Hello ,
We've got big plans for 2026, and we need your help. Our annual fundraising campaign ends tomorrow, Jan. 31, at midnight, and we're not quite to our goal yet. Will you help us make our biggest impact yet next year?
It's been a banner year for the Desk. In the spring, we published our biggest collaborative reporting project ever, "Down the Drain: A watershed moment for America's greatest wetlands."
We were also awarded "Collaboration of the Year" by LION Publishers, a huge achievement for this team.
And now, we've got more exciting news to share: We've hired our new editorial director after a nationwide search. Chas Sisk joins us from Nashville, Tennessee, to guide our editorial strategy. We're so excited to have him and to see what's next for the Desk.
All of this is to say: We can't make waves like this without your help. Last year, donations like yours helped us launch a grant program for our reporters, who used funds for things like buying audio recording equipment and attending professional development conferences to help them better cover their beats. (A fun tidbit here: Reporter Illan Ireland's very first radio story went national, and it was picked up by Marketplace. Not bad!)
I know it's a busy time of year, and many organizations are in need. We'd be honored if you would support the Desk by donating today. Through the end of the year, every dollar is doubled by our partners at NewsMatch. Help make an impact for the Desk, and help us make an impact in the Mississippi River Basin.
To those of you who have already donated: Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. By standing with us, you're helping to bring news about agriculture and the environment to those who need it most.
